As part of 2010 Caravan for Earth, the Marlins and Hunt/ Moss took part in an environmentally-friendly home makeover with the help of Mars Contractors, Home Depot ,S&S Waste, Sun Recycling, Contex Construction, Carlson Fence, Pamar Landscape, FPL, and RAMA Air Conditioning. The Little Havana family was chosen based on financial need and was fully equipped with an energy efficient home. Some of these initiatives included: solar lighting in landscape, draught tolerant low maintenance plants, low VOC paint, low flow shower heads, energy efficient A/C unit, water heater, washer, and dryer, among others. These green initiatives will mirror those implemented in the New Marlins Ballpark, which is looking to be the first retractable roof ballpark to achieve Silver LEED Certification
